LOL Like every five minutes. You can create a Linux boot drive to repair Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11.You can also use the Linux boot USB drive to get your files off of a broken Windows system. Then while you're there do yourself a favor delete Windows an UPGRADE to Linux.1. You need to download Rufus - Windows ONLY. (on a working computer - the portable version is what I use)https://rufus.ie/en/2. Insert a 8 gig or larger USB thumb into the computer.(EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVE WILL BE ERASED) 3. Download the Linux .ISO file from your favorite Linux distro: (Mint being the easiest for new users)Always download LTS versions if they are offered.Xubuntuhttps://xubuntu.org/download (this is my OS) Minthttps://linuxmint.com/download.php (I like Xfce)Manjarohttps://manjaro.org/Debian https://www.debian.org/Blackarch https://blackarch.org/downloads.htmlLutris https://lutris.net/downloads/Ubuntu https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop4. Something like the Nvidia Control Panel for Nvidia cards. And I found "Radeon Profile" super easy to install and even better then the Nvidia Control Panel. You can set power levels, overclock, create custom fan curves, set your AMD video card to "COMPUTE". Compute is needed for mining crypto :) and yes AMD video cards are king in crypto mining. So much more ETH for the buck. (10 RX580 at 30-32mh/s for the price of one 2080 TI at 63-66mh/s do the math lol)You will need to have already installed your AMD video card drivers. The maker of this great GUI:https://github.com/marazmista/radeon-profileNow the easy part :) open your favorite Terminal window. Make sure you have "lm-senors" installed if not install them.Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt install lm-sensorsType or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt-get updateThen add the Radeon Profile... less

Hardinfo will also create HTML reports on your system’s hardware.Hardinfo is a lot like AIDA64 for windows. Hardinfo doesn't have all the monitoring that AIDA64 has but anything you need to know about your Linux system it will have.To install the hardinfo package on your Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04, Xubuntu 18.04, 20.04, Mint 19.3, 20 Linux system/s:Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt update (or sudo apt-get update)Type or copy and paste this hit enter: sudo apt install hardinfoType or copy and paste this hit enter: hardinfo -rma devices.soTo start the program (you can create a start menu item if you know how)Type or copy and paste this hit enter: hardinfo (After install it can be found on your menu or search as "System Profiler and Benchmark". It was still working in Xubuntu 18.04.4 with the new AMD CPU.It was in the old Software Center which got removed in version 18.04 :( Just installed it need to reboot for the 10 millionth time lol to see if it works! It's called "indicator-cpufreq" you just add it to a panel (taskbar for windows converts). Then left click and pick your speed! This program should run in Mint, Ubuntu, Xubuntu....To install it:If you are still on Ubuntu 16.04 use the Software Center. (That also works if you upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04)If not open your favorite Terminal Window. (Terminator Terminal for me)Newer versions you can drop "-get"1. Type in or copy & paste: sudo apt-get update (hit enter) 2. Type in or copy & paste: sudo apt-get install indicator-cpufreq3. Type in or copy & paste: sudo apt-get update (hit enter)Then add it to one of your panels "Indicator Plugin". Put a check mark in... less

If you still have the "Software Center" you can find it there.By default Ubuntu 18.04 does not have the Software Center it's been replaced with stuff that just doesn't work that well.1. Open a Terminal Window2. Type in or copy & paste into the terminal window and hit enter: sudo apt-get install gkrellm3. Menu - Settings, no menu search for GKrellMhtop runs in terminal1. Some older drivers work fine all the drivers work on 2 monitors at any resolution or refresh rate. Most Nvidia cards support three monitors but once you enable the third monitor your power use can jump up to 185 watts on the card! Because the card will run at top speed all the time!Who could / can fix this problem?Well NVIDIA could FIX their broken Linux drivers. The makers of each card could also fix the problem. Like EVGA making a version of Precision X FOR LINUX! When you have THOUSANDS of customers buying video cards from $400 to $1,400+. The least any company could do is support the OS their customers use. But I understand why they don't support a totally FREE Operating System that's works great, runs everything 99.99% of the end users would ever need! The most common EXCUSE I hear from most companies "there are so many versions of Linux". OK this is true Linux has a version for every user. BUT all the... less

FIRST Dump the UEFI boot & Secure boot, boot legacy, set your sata drives to RAID but don't create a raid partition. If you're using a single drive create one NTFS partion on the back of the drive. Install Windows 8, 8.junk or 10 on the front of the drive (IN THE FREE SPACE) it will make both of it's partitions (or three for Windows 10). 100 to 200meg system partition & the windows operating system. If you only have one hard drive you can use separate partitions. In that case Windows will need to be use the front of the drive. So it would look something like this Linux can read & write Windows fat or NTFS files, Windows CAN NOT read Linux folders or files. After Windows is installed delete the NTFS partition you created on the back of the drive. Install EASY BCD 2.2 ONLY, 1. Restart and insert the CD or USB Ubuntu boot.1. Select "TRY"2. Once it's booted into Ubuntu on... less

Only a few specialized programs that run only in Windows or Mac, that you may need for work. Would be the only reason for not using Linux 100% of the time. Most common Linux to switch from Windows or Mac to Linux, would be Ubuntu. Ubuntu When you download Ubuntu, there will be different versions. 32bit, 64bit, newest version supported for 18 months, new version ( missing some bells & whistles) supported for 5 years. Not to worry it will say which version does what. You can download Ubuntu, run it off the CD (LIVE CD), to test and see if you like it. Then it will have an option to install it, on the Live CD Desktop. You will also be given the choice to install it next to windows. Then on start up you have a choice of which to use. It has everything you have in windows plus some: internet browsers, firefox, chromium, opera, open office (libre office), video... less
