Here are a few sites to check and see if your internet speed is what you are paying for. :) Another good thing about testing your internet speed, you can see if it's the computer going slow or the problem is with your ISP. (Internet Service Provider)

    1. Speedtest.net:
You can select anywhere in the world to test :) Just click on the world map, hold your left mouse button down and drag the box.
It will pick a default location for you. It's just fun to test speeds to china, germany, hobart.... lol and it will tell you how many miles away that city is.

    2. Speakeasy Speed Test:
Less choices on where to test, but fast and you can see if your speed is at or close to the rated speed.

    3. DSL Reports Speed Test:
DSL Reports is a great site for anykind of internet questions. Latest ISP news, latest new on fiber who has it, who is getting it.
They have 5 speed tests and you can also test your mobile internet speed.

PeaceKeeper by Futuremark is a browser compatibility and speed test for testing HTML5, Divx, Java, Adobe Flash, Shockwave Flash, QuickTime, Nero and VLC.

HTML5 is the newest language for the internet, it's how your browser sees and reads web pages. Having a HTML compatible browser will insure fewer problems loading, reading and using websites. I tested all the browsers below three times each with Futuremarks PeaceKeeper. I adjusted all of them to the highest security settings, (do not track, no 3rd party cookies, 75 megs storage, no geo location...) except Chrome. Chrome only has a few safety features and still scored very poorly. I have no idea why Futuremark says Chrome is King of the Hill? Another Google buy-out, I'm guessing :(

In all fairness, which I never have, :) the speed test is very new and still a little buggy. Turning off all security settings can make huge jumps in performance. That, to me, is a very bad thing! All browsers should come out of the box with the highest security settings enabled. And if you have the knowledge to adjust them down, and stay safe on the internet, fine. But for the average user, higher is better :)
