Didn't take long I ended up with a 2950x I'm not too thrilled with the 2990wx and don't really have the money for it anyway. Pretty much the best I've had for a CPU got tired of running out of PCIe lanes I'm a storage speed addict lol.
beast-usa (Admin)Well I haven't upgraded yet for the same reason I'm seeing on the AMD cpu's.

I will stick with Intel unless I see an AMD that can in the real world out run an Intel. I don't know one person that disables turbo boost, has turbo boost running on one or two cores LOLOL or runs at stock clock.
But I am loving those AMD video cards! One third the price of my card and do everything my card does! So I'm waiting for the RX 680 reviews from real users not the BS shit that seems to be all you see now. And if they are 20, 30% faster then the RX 580's ? I will retire my 1080 SC2 and replace it with a RX 680. The 1080 will get sent to the miners! LOL It's slower then a RX 580 at mining but OK on ZEC.
I haven't upgraded from my 6950X because their is no way in HELL I want to get stuck using that crap Windows 10! The new intel and now I see AMD can both run Linux. But I still have five things I use that I can not get to run in Linux. One I can... less

Ryzen is still a baby its good if it serves your purpose but Intel is better in certain situations. The price is a good offset and usually the deciding factor. Can't wait to see how well they do on the new fab there are supposedly huge MHz advantages... moreRyzen is still a baby its good if it serves your purpose but Intel is better in certain situations. What I'm most excited for is the competition its been a long time since we got huge leaps in performance. less
beast-usa (Admin)Welcome Eric
I agree it's good to see AMD take a swing at intel. It should be interesting to see what happens in the next year. If I had the cash I would buy both, run both like most people run things 24/7 and run them on real world work. Nothing... moreWelcome Eric

I would like to see something like 100 to 500 gigs of mixed files compressed on ultra with 7zip, 7K 4 hour home videos rendered and re-coded... I compress about 1 to 2 TB's per day for customers so the faster that could go would be better for me. less
