OK to start as always to avoid 100's of problems just UPGRADE to Linux!
Windows sound settings and common fixes.
No Sound:1. Make sure your sound is not muted. Mouse over your speaker icon it will tell you if it's muted.
On websites same thing look at the speaker icon if it's crossed out it's muted.
2. Are your speakers turned on, plugged in, did you test them on another system?
Keep in mind a new USB sound card or speakers cost about $20.00.
3. Open Control Panel, View by: Large icons, scroll down left click Sound
Select the CORRECT default sound card, USB sound, Monitor sound.
Left click Set Default.
4. Still no sound? Make sure your sound drivers are installed or re-install them.
https://happyasis.com/forums/category/36/subcategory/51AFTER EVERY WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE (DOWNGRADE) YOU WILL NEED TO REINSTALL SOUND AND VIDEO DRIVERS.
MICROSOFT IN ALL IT INFINITE WISDOM WILL REMOVE ALL YOUR DRIVERS ON EVERY UPGRADE!
If you have done everything on this list and still have no sound either your speakers are bad or your Sound Device is bad.
You can replace your sound device with a new PCI/PCI-E card or for laptop tops a new USB sound card.
Low Sound even with the volume at 100%:1.Open Control Panel, View by: Large icons, scroll down left click Sound
2. Select your Default sound device then left click properties.
3. Click Enhancements NOT ALL SOUND CARDS HAVE THIS SETTING.
If you have the Enhancements tab left click Enhancements.
Then check the Loudness Equalization box. This be will a huge
boost to your sound 50% volume will be louder then 100%
used to be!
Again with the crappy Windows 10. If you had this setting before Windows 10 or Windows 10 1903 downgrade.
And the downgrade removed the setting so your sound is super low! Try installing OLDER SOUND DRIVERS.
That worked for me on two Windows 10 1903 downgrade! With the newest RealTek drivers the enhancement tab was removed. The R279 on one system and R280 on another system got the enhancement and loudness setting back.
As always any questions just ask.
