Pictures PNG or JPG?

I get asked all of time which is better :)
It's hard to explain so I found a really good blog that is right on the money!
This is exactly what I do :) I keep all orginals in PNG, convert everyhting I can to JPG for websites, desktop backgrounds, avatars...

PNG pictures will resize, to a larger or smaller picture and keep a much nicer looking
picture. Where JPG pictures if resized up or down will tend to get blurry.
But PNG pictures have huge files sizes!

PNG picture at 1.8megs will have the same looking picture at 0.124megs in JPG.
I only use GIF if it's animated, PNG will do transparent backgrounds.

I always use PNG for any picture. GIF's I use for any animated image. I perfer PNG's over JPG's. Especially since PNG's can be transparent. I really like things being transparent.

PNG you get transparent plus resize without loss of image :) We know which images you want transparent :) Same as me!

But png's if not being used right will kill a website or your hard drive space lol
