    Windows 7 Start Up Problems

If you are having problems starting your system. This works in all windows 95 through windows 7. Won't Turn On Blank Screen:
Step #1 First check to make sure you don't have any external drives plugged in, USB thumb drives, back-up drives. then check your DVD - CD drive for a disc. If those are empty go to step #2

Step #2 Hold your power button in until the computer (desktop or laptop) shuts down. Unplug all the cords from the back of the system. Laptop remove power cord & battery. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, try to restart. Still nothing, unplug everything and let it sit overnight. If that doesn't do it...sorry it may have hardware problems you will need to take it to a shop.

Turns On But Won't Go Into Windows:
Step #1 Same as above, check to make sure you don't have any external drives plugged in, USB thumb drives, back-up drives. then check your DVD - CD drive for a disc. If those are empty go to step #2

Step #2 Hold your power button in until the computer (desktop or laptop) shuts down. Restart pressing / click your F8 key. Then choose Safe Mode Without Networking. This can take up to 20 minutes to go into windows. Your screen, icons everything will be in very low standard VGA graphic's. But if it does start your on the road to repair. (if F8 does not work it won't start in safe mode go to Step #4)

Step #3 click F8 on start-up, keep clicking F8 on start until you see a screen with these choices,
    Safe Mode,
    Safe Mode with Networking,
    Safe Mode with Command Promt,
    (space)
    Enable Boot Logging,
    Enable low-resolution video (640x480),
    Last Known Good Configuration (advanced),
    Directory Service Restore Mode,
    Debugging Mode,
Disable automatic restart on system failure,
    Disable Driver Signature Enforcement,
    (space)
    Start Windows Normally

...... CHOOSE  Last Known Good Configuration (advanced) Just say next on anything it asks you.

If the screen comes up with SATA*.*, IDE*.* your motherboard has a bios boot selection. Restart wait until you clear the bios screen, hard dirves, then Click F8.

Step #4 Go to your start button, then All programs / Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then left click System Restore. And choose to restore your computer to a earlier day. Go back to a day you remember that it was working fine. If that fixes it, when it restarts make sure to run all your anti-virus & anti-spyware programs and remove anything bad that is found.

    Step #5
For windows 95, 98, 2000, xp and millennium. insert your windows disc (you may need to make sure your system is set to boot from dvd-cd rom first) when it asks to hit any key to boot windows just tap the space bar. On the first screen choose to install windows. Even if it warns you are you sure, say yes. Then the disc will scan your computer for versions of windows and where to install. If you see a window and it has C:\windows select that drive, partition, location. Then you will have the choice to do a FULL INSTALL which will wipe all the files. Or a REPAIR INSTALL choose repair install if you want to save all your files and installed software. If the repair install does not fix it you will need to do a clean install.

For windows vista, windows 7 all versions. Same as above insert & boot to your windows dvd, on the first screen choose repair my computer. It will run a automatic repair and ask if you would like to apply repairs and restart. Select yes (remove your windows dvd first) See if it will start. If not boot to your windows dvd again and select repair my computer. This time it will show you a small box with a list of windows installs on your computer. Select your version should only be one unless you do multi-boot. (If there is nothing in the window you need to check for hardware problems and may need to do a clean install) On the next screen select repair start up. Remove your windows dvd and restart. If this still does not work, you will need to do a clean install or contact a repair shop.
